Longbridge: Jobs updateJun 21,2013 - by 0

Following some confusion, we’ve been in touch with three of the new businesses set to open this Autumn on the Longbridge development for some guidance on how they will be recruiting.

We have some information from Sainsburys and Greene King (Hungry Horse pub) already and will add information from Whitbread re the Premier Inn and Beefeater restaurant jobs when we receive it.

Matt Brown, business unit director for Hungry Horse, said: “We are very excited to be opening a new Hungry Horse in Longbridge and bringing around 40 full and part time jobs to the local area in autumn 2013.

“We are now looking for enthusiastic team members, including assistant managers, chefs and front of house staff.  If you think you have what it takes to be on the front line of this famous brand, please contact the pub’s business development manager, Greg Gibbons, on greggibbons@greeneking.co.uk

“The new pub will have something for all the family to enjoy and we look forward to welcoming customers and team members to this great value, family friendly pub very soon.”

The Longbridge store is set to open in September, and will create around 320 full and part-time jobs.

Details of vacancies are currently being uploaded onto sainsburys.jobs, including positions for the in-store bakery, customer café and food counters, as well as merchandising roles.

More vacancies such as general assistants and cashiers will continue to be published on the website over the coming weeks until the store opens.

You can search the jobs site by area and will be prompted to sign in to apply for individual jobs.

We understand that jobs are being added all the time, so if it appears there are none DO keep trying!

A 75 bed Premier Inn hotel with a Beefeater restaurant attached is being built on the site. We have contacted Whitbread for advice on their recruitment programme and they have forwarded our enquiry to the relevant department. We await their reply and will update when we get the information.

In the meantime you can keep an eye on their recruitment pages online

Another source of jobs is in Barnes Hill in Quinton where Asda are currently recruiting. Take a look at http://www.asda.jobs

The information below gives more details of how to apply:

Please find details on the open recruitment process for the new Asda store which will be opening in Barnes Hill in October this year.

There is an on-line application process for candidates to go through who are interested in these vacancies.  Please note that candidates must have an e-mail address to be able to go through the on-line process.  Candidates need to search for 'Birmingham Vacancies' and select Quinton and this will bring up vacancies for the Barnes Hill store.

Most of the positions available will be part-time, there will be limited full-time vacancies available.  Asda are looking for applicants that are flexible with working hours.

If candidates are successful at the on-line application stage they will be invited to an interview at a location in Birmingham.  This will include group exercises, evaluation interviews, followed by a 1:1 interview.  Successful candidates will then be invited back for a second 1:1 interview with the relevant Department Manager the following week.

The website address to access the on-line application is http://www.asda.jobs
